Mithila Binta Matin

Mithila Binta Matin is a Bangladeshi artist and researcher with a background in Crafts at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Rajshahi, where she completed her BFA and MFA. Her research focuses on Nakshi Kantha and women’s empowerment, with particular attention to the relationship between craft income, household decision-making and social recognition.
Her artistic practice and research interests meet in traditional textile crafts and the lives of the women who sustain them. Beyond the Stitches grows out of her field research with women working in Nakshi Kantha in Rajshahi. Through their experiences, she considers how skilled work supports everyday life and what fairer opportunities might mean for its makers.
